Connect your own AI assistant to 4truck
Let an AI assistant you already use read your 4truck data in its conversations, with the same access you have in 4truck and nothing more.
What it does
4truck can connect to an AI assistant that supports remote connectors, such as Claude. Once connected, you can ask that assistant about your operation in your own words, and it looks the answer up in 4truck while you talk. What it can answer follows the features your role can open in 4truck — the assistant lists exactly what it can read, and that list grows as 4truck does.
The connection only reads. It cannot add, change or delete anything in 4truck.
Before you start
- Your account owner allows it for your role. In 4truck, the owner turns on both AI Assistant and AI Connectors for a role under Permissions. Until then, a connection can be made but every lookup answers that your owner has not allowed it.
- You have a 4truck sign-in. The assistant acts as you, so you sign in to 4truck once while connecting.
- Your assistant supports remote connectors. In Claude this is a custom connector; other assistants may call it an integration or an app.
Connect
- In your AI assistant, open its connector settings and add a custom connector.
- Enter this server address:
https://mcp.4truck.us/mcp - Your assistant opens a 4truck page. Sign in if you are asked to, check which assistant is asking, and approve.
- Back in the assistant, the 4truck connector is listed with the tools it offers. Your assistant shows the current list and what each tool does, so it always matches what 4truck provides today.
Then ask a question about anything in that list, in your own words.
What the assistant can see
Exactly what you can see in 4truck, at the moment it asks:
- Your permissions decide the features. If your role cannot open a feature in 4truck, the assistant cannot read it either.
- Team Management decides the companies and vehicles. If you are limited to some companies or some vehicles, so is the assistant.
- Changes apply at once. When an owner or manager changes your access, the next lookup follows the new access. Nothing has to be reconnected.
The assistant never reaches another 4truck account, even if you belong to more than one. Each connection belongs to one membership; connect again from the other account to use it there.
What 4truck keeps
Each lookup is recorded: what the assistant looked up, including the details it passed along such as a vehicle's unit number or a name it searched for, and how much came back. The record never contains what you typed to the assistant or what it answered. Your account owner, and anyone the owner allows, can see this record in Audit Log → AI activity.
What the assistant reads is sent to the provider of that assistant at your direction, and from there it is handled under your agreement with that provider. How long 4truck keeps its own records is described in the Privacy Policy.
Disconnect
- You: Profile → Connections → AI connectors → Disconnect. You can also remove the connector inside your assistant.
- Your account owner, and anyone the owner allows to see AI activity: they can end a member's connection from Audit Log → AI activity.
- Your account owner: turning AI Connectors off for a role stops every connection of that role at its next lookup.
Signing out of 4truck everywhere, changing your password, or a change to your role or manager status also ends your connections. Connect again afterwards.
If something goes wrong
- "Your 4truck account owner has not allowed external AI connectors for your role" — ask your owner to turn on AI Assistant and AI Connectors for your role under Permissions.
- "Your membership could not be verified" — 4truck could not confirm your role in this account. Sign in to 4truck to check your membership, then connect again.
- "…too many requests" — the assistant, or your account as a whole, asked very often in a short time. Wait a little and ask again.
- The assistant does not mention a vehicle, a company or a record you expect — check your access in Permissions and Team Management; the assistant sees only what you see.
